but we often use texts from contexts that are not the "best" that we could be using to prove a point. While the general truth might be absolutely correct, we need to be diligent about using a verse that "better" goes along with the point we are trying to make, because usually there are verses out there that do this.

example: People will use 1 Cor. 13 as an example of Love in Marriage, when Ephesians 5 is really a BETTER text for talking about love in marriage. 1 Cor. is talking more about using love in spiritual gifts. So basically, it isn't like you have to throw the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to context and be "legalitic" about it, but one should be more accurate to the text and try to use examples from Scripture that are clearly there before using one that doesn't correlate as well.

edited to add: In other words, it isn't "wrong" to use some of these passages. I wouldn't go that far as to say using 1 Cor. 13 for love in marriage is "wrong" as there is a general truth there, but I would say that there would be better passages out there to prove a point, and that we should search for those passages and use those "first" whenever we can if we are wanting to prove a point.
