If you expect him to read it all himself he will probably struggle, because there are some formal terms and things he probably won't be able to pronounce or understand alone. But if you do it as a read-aloud or together with him, then it should be just fine. :) IMHO it really is targeted for the 4th-5th grader, as a read-aloud, just by the way it is set up and the simplicity of it. I feel like it's a little light for middle school level, but it was the ONLY physics I could find designed for children (not high school), and so it will do. And the lightness is really my own criticism. :) It's good stuff
