Dd did well on PSATs, but not that well. She also did better on the SATs, which bums her out. She says colleges only care about the PSAT. *SIGH*
You're doing what I would do, asking the schools. Keep looking the internet and ask everyone who's gone ahead of you. I'd say ask others w/ kids as smart as yours, but that may be impossible.
