In my experience, if the kids aren't excited about them when they first come into the house, they rarely get excited about them down the road. (Of course, there are always exceptions!)

When I was homeschooling, I started off w/one bookshelf. Before the divorce, we were at 4 bookshelves! So... I know about having books. And, they are GREAT to have while you're schooling. (Michaela already has a bookshelf full of books, not including any college texts she refused to part with.)
