Interesting that it isn't happening in college anymore. I had to write one for the MCAT. It was my lowest score. LOL!
I think the good thing about essays is that it teaches you to get your thoughts focused very clearly. Dh has had to use that at his job a lot and had to be quick about it. They were essays, per se, but it was writing.
