it is a high starch dish to begin with but not a super sweet tasting dish. The dressing is a vinegar/sugar/oil base. If you used less sugar you would taste the vinegar more.
my dh is hypoglycemic and has to watch starch/sugary foods. When we have something like this we balance it out with high protein foods.
just a side note when someone is watching sugar intake they also need to watch starchy foods because they break down to sugar very quickly in the body. fruits and a lot of veggies are starchy and of course pasta is as well.
