Jeanette my spaghetti sauce recipe (It might be interesting to see how differently we all make this same dish)

in a skillet brown 1 chopped onion in a bit of olive oil. When the oinion is nice a brown (carmalized) transfer the onion to a large soup pot.

In same pan break up and brown 1 lb ground beef and about 6 mild Italian sausage (casings removed)

While the meat is browning add to the soup pot:

tomato sauce (today I used 2 lg cans)
tomato paste (today I used 2 lg cans)
canned or fresh peeled tomatos (optional)
1 chopped bell pepper (red is better)
minced garlic
a tomato sauce can of red wine
a beef boullion cube
1 bay leaf
a bit of basil (fresh if you have it)
a bit of oregano
a bit of parsley (if you feel like it)
a bit of salt
enough water

Once the meat is browned add it to the sauce.

Bring sauce up to a good simmer and simmer for at least 3 hours, adding water as needed.

Integrity does right even when it feels wrong.
